Liam is a Canadian composer, instrument maker, improvisor, and sound artist from Calgary, Canada. His work creates a sense of place and reflects a fascination with the sounds and processes of the natural world. He creates acoustic and electroacoustic pieces for concert performance and builds sound sculptures and instruments that transform natural processes into musical sound.
Liam has taught courses in music technology, composition, and interdisiplinary arts at Princeton University and the University of Calgary and will be joining the University of Victoria to support the music technology program in 2026. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Composition at Acadia University, his MPhil in Music Studies at the University of Cambridge, and his PhD in Music Composition at Princeton University. His work has been performed and exhibited across Canada, as well as in the US, the UK, Bulgaria, and Germany.
