At the end of July, India Gailey and I recorded material for an upcoming EP. You can see pictures and read about the recording process here. We recorded improvised material on cello, voice, harmonica, mandolin, and found materials like rocks and cannons in unique acoustic environments around Nova Scotia. Over the winter, I will be shaping these recordings into a series of tracks that will be released as an EP. There will be a long track for each of the three major locations we recorded in, and shorter, more processed interlude tracks that mix material from different locations. Making the recordings was a wonderful experience of mutual exploration, and I’m enjoying this process of having joint improvisations as the raw material for fixed electronic composition.
